Mattress Thickness

While standard mattresses range from 10-12”, there are five mattress depths you are most likely to encounter. Sleepfoundation.org defines these as:
1. Extra Thick/Deep: 14″ or more
2. Thick or Deep Pocket: 12″-14″
3. Standard: 10″-12″
4. Slim: 8″-10″
5. Low Profile: 8″ or less
Mattresses are comprised of multiple layers; there is often a comfort layer on the top that is 2″-3″ thick, a base layer that is 6″-8″ thick, and a transition layer that is 1″-2″ thick. Together, these layers make up the height or depth of your mattress.
